Can we get a category for magazines?
We’re hesitant to add a new top-level category at this stage, as that’s a core taxonomy that we don’t want to overload with options.
So what we’ve done for now is add ‘Magazine’ to the Page format taxonomy instead, since that’s the most logical place to include it. We’ll keep an eye on it, and if there ends up being a lot of magazines being added to the site (there are already a few so we’re on the way), we’ll re-evaluate and consider adding a new top-level category then.
The magazine in question was published at 6" x 9", the format used by many academic journals, so having ‘magazine’ as a page format in this case would actually be deceptive. Ah well.
We’re considering renaming ‘Page format’ to ‘Publication format’, which may be more accurate for the types of things we have in there. You can also select multiple options in all the taxonomies.
Either way - having a way to identify magazines like this is a good start, and we can see how popular the label becomes and how many magazines are added to the site.
