The Apocalyptic Portal of Delta Pavonis II by Lester Ward

The Hexcrawl25 challenge dared everyone to build a "hex flower' campaign setting, specifically: “design 19 interconnected regional hexes (divided into 319 sub-hexes) and fill them with creative content, whether through art, worldbuilding, or both”. This is roughly a “detail one small hex each day” sort of a challenge (though I tended to work in more sporadic bursts).

The Apocalyptic Portal of Delta Pavonis II contains my response to this challenge, building a science-fantasy post-apocalyptic setting somewhat in the vein of the old Thundaar the Barbarian cartoon.

Unwilling to draw my own hand-drawn hexes, most of the art in this book was peiced together from David Baumgart’s fantastic hand-drawn hex toolkits, available here on itch.io.

The primary document details each of the 19 regions, as well as a planetary timeline and overview. This document is intended for use in roleplaying games, but is system agnostic (though the introduction suggests some choices for running Thundaar-like games).

A secondary document is intended as an in-game prop, a field guide to some of the setting’s monsters (not yet posted).
