Copyright policy

So, you’re incorporated in Australia, and the seller agreement says its governed by the laws of NSW.

I assume that Australian (rather than US) copyright law applies?

(This has implications for use of public domain IP; the US has a legacy fixed-term system, while Australia operates on 70 years after death, and its very easy for something to be public domain in one and still protected in the other. Which is a potential opportunity for non-US designers to write things which would not be able to be sold on US platforms)

Good question!

As a general rule - yes, Australian copyright law applies.

That being said, our servers are hosted in the US with DigitalOcean, so it’s technically possible for a US company to issue a DMCA takedown notice with which DigitalOcean would be forced to comply, regardless of Australian law.

As a creator, we recommend that you independently confirm that you are complying with any relevant jurisdictions where needed.
