Correctly categorising and labelling your products is essential for interested buyers to be able to find them.
Available taxonomies
RPG Trader has 13 core taxonomies available for you to use:
- Category
- Language
- Licence
- Genre
- Game system
- Setting
- Playstyle
- Audience & content
- Tone
- Play requirements
- Page format
- Art asset type
- Tags
Category and Language are the only two required taxonomies, but you are encouraged to fill out as many as you can as accurately as you can. Aside from tags, all the taxonomies are dropdown menus that allow you to select as many relevant ones as possible.
If you’re unsure what some of the taxonomy terms mean, you’ll find brief descriptions of all of them here:
How this impacts you
The related and recommended products sections on the site make extensive use of these taxonomies in order to show and recommend new products to buyers. Read more about that here.
If you label your products correctly and extensively, you will find them being recommended more frequently to more people who are more likely to actually be interested in them. It will also make it easier for people to find your games if they are looking for something very particular.
Requesting additional items
If you feel like a taxonomy or an item in a taxonomy is missing and should be added, please post a request in the Feature requests category.
Abuse and overuse of taxonomies
Abuse or overuse of taxonomies by adding excessive amounts to each product, including ones that are not actually relevant, will result in an admin removing the unnecessary ones. If you do this repeatedly, your product(s) may be unlisted for a limited time, making them unavailable in search.
If you see a product with incorrect or abusive use of taxonomies, please flag it for admin review.
